Anthropic Debuts Integrations, Expanding Claude’s Capabilities with Remote MCP Server Connection

Anthropic, building off of its launch of Model Context Protocol (MCP) last year, is announcing Integrations, which enables Claude to seamlessly work with remote MCP servers across both web and desktop apps. Not only does this enhance developers’ abilities to connect and build with Claude but it also drives greater contextual awareness for the model—paired with new updates to Research that extends Claude’s investigation prowess.

With Integrations, Anthropic expands the way developers connect to MCP servers—the open standard for integrating AI apps with external tools and data. Developers can build and host MCP servers that augment Claude’s capabilities, in addition to end-users being able to discover and connect any number of servers to Claude.

For end-users, they can select from Integrations for 10 popular services—including Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, Zapier, Cloudflare, Intercom, Asana, Square, Sentry, PayPal, Linear, and Plaid—with more to come from companies such as Stripe and GitLab, according to Anthropic. Developers can create their own integrations in as little as 30 minutes, radically expanding what Claude is capable of, the company noted.

As tools are connected to Claude, the model develops a deep comprehension of the user’s workflows that enables it to take actions. Acting as an “informed collaborator,” Claude assists complex projects with its understanding of attributes such as project histories, task statuses, and organizational knowledge.

This announcement also features an update to Research, Claude’s agentic capability for searching across users’ internal work contexts and the web. Now, Claude can delve even deeper in Research flows, executing in-depth investigations across hundreds of internal and external sources. The result: More comprehensive reports, reducing complex research tasks to anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes—where manual workflows could have taken hours, according to Anthropic.

Additionally, with Anthropic’s Integrations release, Research can search any application connected to Claude. When Claude delivers information from its sources, it pairs the information with clear citations that link directly to the original material, ensuring output transparency.
