IBM’s AI Integration Services Jump-Start AI Journeys by Transforming Business Processes

IBM is unveiling its new AI Integration Services, a series of consulting services designed to help de-risk and accelerate AI journeys in the enterprise.

While businesses remain eager to implement the next big AI tech—AI agents, currently—applying AI to outdated processes will fail to realize significant, tangible value. Agentic AI, though capable of advancing productivity, will ultimately falter when attached to systems with fragmented, poor quality, outdated data. Coupled with legacy IT systems burdened by disparate applications, complex integrations, and poor data access, as well as the crucial reskilling of employees to properly utilize AI solutions, makes AI journeys mean much more than simple procurement.

According to Francesco Brenna, VP and senior partner, AI Integration Services, IBM Consulting, this is why “In the face of all those obstacles, AI agents alone are not enough. We believe enterprises need to take a comprehensive approach to re-engineering entire business processes, dramatically changing both user experience and the orchestrated system of AI assistants, agents, and data that supports it.”

IBM’s AI Integration Services unite key capabilities and IBM’s open ecosystem of partners to empower enterprises to radically transform end-to-end business processes into “agentic apps”—what IBM has dubbed reimagined business architectures to better support AI assistants. These agentic apps are composed of three layers:

  • Persona-based user experience that improves the daily workflows and tools of employees through a new user experience that utilizes AI assistants configured to individual user personas
  • Multi-agent orchestration that operates based on multi-agent collaboration, helping to transform how workflows are executed, monitored, and controlled, paired with robust AI governance
  • Optimized data management via data products that forward a standard of organized, ready-to-consume, readily available data in real time from diverse, distributed enterprise systems

IBM’s AI Integration Services sees agentic apps as being cultivated through the following:

  • IBM’s deep technology, business, and industry expertise in scaling AI, helping its clients with building appropriate governance guardrails as well as constructing and implementing agentic solutions
  • Generative AI-powered technology solutions via IBM Consulting Advantage, an AI-powered delivery platform that supercharges IBM expertise with a low-/no-code approach to designing, building, and employing agentic apps (available through the IBM Consulting Agents Catalyst technology solution)
  • Library of pre-built Agentic Apps templates for various business domains and industry processes, enabling clients to rapidly begin transforming their business processes

With the introduction of AI Integration Services, IBM sees its clients relying “on IBM to keep pace and foresee where AI innovations are headed next, while having the expertise they need right now to get business value from AI agents and their existing technology investments,” according to Brenna.
