OpenAI Releases its Advanced Image Generation Model to the ChatGPT API
OpenAI is releasing its image generation model to the ChatGPT API, affording developers and businesses the power to integrate this image generation technology into their existing tools and platforms.
OpenAI’s natively multimodal image generation model, introduced last month, accurately renders a diverse style of images based on the complex interdependencies of images and language. Equipped to precisely follow custom guidelines and utilize world knowledge, OpenAI’s model poses significant opportunities across a wide variety of use cases.
With OpenAI’s release of its image generation model to the ChatGPT API—available via gpt-image-1—the company aims to uncover additional use cases within the API to better serve its users. Some examples of companies leveraging the model’s API availability include:
- Canva, the free-to-use online graphic design tool, is using gpt-image-1 to expand the possibilities of its design generation and editing for its Canva AI and Magic Studio tools.
- GoDaddy, the world's largest and most trusted domain registrar, is using gpt-image-1 to help its customers easily create editable logos as well as social media posts and other marketing assets.
- HubSpot, the AI-powered customer platform, is using gpt-image-1 to aid its users in creating marketing and sales collateral with high-quality images for social media, email marketing, and landing pages without requiring specialized design expertise.
Regarding safety, gpt-image-1 utilizes the same safety guardrails as 4o image generation in ChatGPT, which includes safeguards against harmful image creation and the inclusion of C2PA metadata in generated images. Accompanying this is the ability to control moderation sensitivity, which can be adjusted based on the desired filtering level. OpenAI’s models are never trained on customer API data, and all images generated are subject to the company’s API usage policies.
