Early Access of Progress MarkLogic Server 12 Supports Accurate and Agile GenAI
Progress, the trusted provider of AI-powered infrastructure software, is debuting the early access release of Progress MarkLogic Server 12, a solution that unifies a database, search engine, data integration tools, mastering capabilities, and more, into a single offering. Version 12 delivers a variety of new features, including native vector support, relevance-based algorithms, a flexible retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pattern, and a capability for grounding large language models (LLMs) in private data.
The latest iteration of MarkLogic Server centers its focus on advancing generative AI (GenAI) toward its promised output of relevant, accurate responses. With enhanced search techniques and a new, simplified RAG architecture, users benefit from a single API to define, orchestrate, and re-rank search scores, inviting faster, agile, and more secure graph RAG, according to Progress.
“As AI becomes increasingly integrated into the enterprise, it is crucial to not only improve the precision of the results delivered but also to safeguard the enterprise’s valuable data,” said John Ainsworth, EVP and general manager, application and data platform, Progress. “With the latest release of MarkLogic Server, our customers have access to a dependable database management system capable of generating top-quality AI responses, while also protecting their reputation and intellectual property investment.”
MarkLogic Server 12 introduces the following features:
- Native vector support designed to power large-scale similarity searches for AI systems operating on large quantities of unstructured data, as well as native vector operations for enhanced GenAI accuracy, storable vector embeddings close to the data itself in JSON or XML format, and compatibility with Optic API for increased result relevance
- BM25 relevance ranking that improves recall with better document ranking, merging best-match and vector search to re-rank results for optimal search relevance
- Graph shortest path that empowers users to solve real-world problems regarding route planning, network optimization, and resource allocation, further improving contextual relevance of results and response time in AI-based recommendation systems via semantic searches against knowledge graphs or semantic data in graph RAG architectures
Additionally, Progress is releasing MarkLogic Flux, a new application for improving data movement and transformation capabilities to the MarkLogic platform.
MarkLogic Server is a part of the Progress MarkLogic platform, a solution that combines multi-model data management with real-time, relevance-based search and semantic capabilities to provide an adaptable, secure foundation for an organization’s GenAI solutions, according to the company.
